Race Day!
Hello everyone! Just wanted to post a quick note to let you know how it went! It's Monday night and I'm still in San Diego (took a few days off for vacation with hubby!), but the short version of the story is... IT WAS AWESOME!!! :o) Melanie and Cutler surprised me by showing up in San Diego at the race expo the day before the race (she had told me they wouldn't be able to make it), and they were there to cheer me on with my husband. The best part is, I got to carry Cutler across the finish line, which was such a special moment for me. I am still in shock that they were able to make the trip and keep it a surprise! I would be remiss if I didn't thank my husband for helping to make the surprise happen, so... Thank You, Honey! And of course, I'm extremely grateful to Melanie for bringing her sweet baby boy, my Honored Hero Cutler, to celebrate our accomplishments together. I know it must've been difficult traveling alone with a 1-year-old, not to mention the fact that she had to explain to her older son why he couldn't go with them, all the while her husband was going to be traveling for a new job! So thank you, Melanie, Cutler, Aaron and Mason Fricke for making this such an amazing experience for me!
I've posted a few pictures on my Facebook page (feel free to friend me 'Ginger Cox Rogers'), and will post a link here to my entire photo album as soon as we're back and I've had a chance to organize the pictures (I always take a ton). THANKS AGAIN FOR SUPPORTING ME IN THIS WONDERFUL CAUSE! The North Texas Chapter of Team In Training raised $315,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! Overall, there were 4,000 TNT'ers who raised a combined total of $12 Million!!!
P.S. I finished my 26.2 MILES in 4:42! Woohooooo! :o)
WoW! Looking back over the past few months, it amazes me how far you and Cutler have come! Congrats on kicking that Marathon's tail! And thanks to Melanie and Cutler for making the trip to San Diego to cheer on Ginger! It's been very motivational watching this whole things take place!
